Edinburgh, 12th May 2008 – Dialog Semiconductor PLC (FWB:DLG), a leading supplier of mixed signal power management products for the portable consumer market has been awarded a £1.3M grant by Scottish Enterprise to support the creation of a new design centre in Edinburgh City Centre.
The new office overlooking St Andrews Square will become a centre of excellence for audio technology within the company and is expected to employ at least 20 Design Engineers by the end of this year.
Building on ambitious company growth plans the ‘R&D plus’ award will reinforce Dialog’s commitment to the area by providing support to recruit staff with the specialist skills needed. The centre will focus on the development of enabling technology for enhanced signal processing targeted to complement Dialog’s energy management integrated circuits. The first such products are expected to be introduced within the next 12-18 months.
Lena Wilson, Chief Operating Officer for Scottish Enterprise officially opened the new office and commented “Scottish Enterprise is pleased to support this recent inward investment by Stuttgart-based Dialog Semiconductor. The Edinburgh and Lothian region has cultivated a pool of talent in semiconductor design which we not only wish to develop but also expand with our support”
